Farmer jailed for defiling two sisters

Kwame Kpamoh, a 23-year-old farmer, has been sentenced to 30 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Tarkwa circuit court for defiling two sisters at Kwame Niampah in the Prestea/Huni Valley District.

He was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Florence Tawiah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant, Mrs Ruth Dari, is the mother of the victims, both nine years old, and lives with them in the same vicinity with Kpamoh at Kwame Niampah.

Chief Inspector Tawiah said because Kpamoh was the complainant’s brother-in-law, he paid regular visits to the house and often gave sweets and money to the victims.

Chief Inspector Tawiah said as time went on the convict stopped giving sweets to the victims but rather sent them out to buy the toffees.

The prosecution said Kpamoh took advantage of that and one day defiled the victims in an uncompleted building.

The Prosecution said the convict repeated the act on several occasions and told the victims not to reveal the secret to anybody else they would die.

According to Chief Inspector Tawiah, when rumour circulated in the community that the convict was having sex with the two girls, the complainant became vigilant and started monitoring Kpamoh’s movements.

The prosecution said on October 2, Kpamoh paid his usual visit to the house and while he was about to leave he asked one of the victims to accompany him to buy coffee.

Chief Inspector Tawiah said on reaching the uncompleted building, he was in the process of dragging the girl into the building when her mother, who was trailing them, held Kpamoh and raised the alarm.

The prosecution Mrs Dari reported the matter to the Police and Kpamoh was arrested.
