EC to organize registration of voters in Kassena Nankana on Monday

The Electoral Commission (EC) has stated its intention to undertake the registration of voters in areas affected by the ruling of Justice U. P. Dery of the Fast Track High Court.

The ruling which was given on 30th November directed the EC to undertake the registration of voters in Gayingo, Doba, Akunikongo/Abemtingo and Atosale/Azaasi  Electoral Areas in the Kassena Nankana East District of the Upper East Region.

In a release signed by Mr K. Sarfo-Kantanka, Deputy Chairman of Operations, said eligible voters in the affected areas would have their chance to register from Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th December, 2012.

It said registration will start at 7:00am and end at 5:00pm each day and reminded the participants in the process to take with them any of the following: a passport, driver’s licence, old voter ID card, National Health Insurance card or a National Identification Card, to show as proof of their eligibility status.

The release said applicants who qualify to register but do not possess  any of the identification cards indicated above are required to bring two guarantors who are already registered voters to attest to their qualification to register as voters.
