No accommodation for Police personnel in Bawku

Police personnel on peace operation in Bawku are currently facing accommodation problem, which they say was affecting their performance.

This came up recently when most of the personnel, who had come on peace keeping operation, begun to complain bitterly about their welfare, which include accommodation and feeding.

Most of the personnel, who did not get accommodation provided by the police administration had to rent private rooms far away from the police assembly grounds.

The personnel, who spoke to Ghana News Agency in Bawku at the week end, noted that they went through hash conditions when they were performing their duties at their various post as they had no shelter when it rains.

The personnel said even though junior officers were not allowed to comment on issues concerning the Service, the poor conditions under which they served, was too much.

They appealed to the Police Administration and the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) to give some attention to their welfare.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kweku Buadu Pepprah, Bawku Divisional Commander in charge of the personnel in the area, confirmed that the personnel had no accommodation but explained that stringent measures were being put in place to solve the problem.

ACP Pepprah said his office had made several efforts at securing accommodation for the personnel but there were few challenges that would soon be met.

He refuted the allegation that the personnel were given bad and inadequate food and said the food was of good quality, being prepared by trained caterers.

He called on the Police Administration to expedite action on the completion of the complex storey building currently under construction in order to get adequate accommodation for the personnel.
