President nominates Diana Asoketarige Ayamga as DCE for Bongo

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Madam Diana Asoketarige Ayamga, a Principal Administrative Officer at the Upper East Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo.
In a letter signed by Dr Calistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President, and addressed to the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, the President said the nomination was to fill the existing vacancy, subject to the approval of the Bongo District Assembly.
“I write to inform you that, in accordance with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act, 2017 (Act 940), the President of the Republic has nominated Diana Asoketarige Ayamga as District Chief Executive for the Bongo District Assembly to fill the existing vacancy, subject to the approval of the Bongo District Assembly,” the letter said.
The move has become necessary due to the demise of Mr Joseph Akasake Abaah, the former DCE, on February 22, 2026.
