Ghana police arrest three over allegedly lynching of Liberian national
Three persons have been arrested by the Sakumono District Police Command for allegedly lynching Austin Tengeeh, a 26-year-old Liberian.
The suspects, currently in police custody, are Francis Amuzu, 44, William Adison, 36, and Vincent Adzikah, 34.
A police situational report said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Sakumono Community Hospital morgue, while the necessary diplomatic protocols were being followed.
It said preliminary investigations indicated that the mob allegedly “mistook the victim for a thief.”
Meanwhile, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team from the National Police Headquarters are currently on a manhunt for the other suspects who are believed to have conspired with the three suspects to commit the alleged heinous crime.
A police situational report indicated that the Sakumono District Patrol Team received a distress call from an unidentified individual reporting that a man had been attacked and severely beaten by a group of irate persons near ECG, Lashibi on February 27, 2026.
Upon receipt of the information, the District Patrol Team immediately proceeded to the scene, where the officers found a young man, identified as Austin Tengeeh, lying unconscious with visible marks of assault around his neck and head.
The victim was promptly conveyed to the Sakumono Community Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
