Ghana gets $50,000 after placing third in Kirin Cup

Ghana received a sum of $50,000 after beating Chile on penalties to place third in the just-ended four-nation Kirin Cup tournament held in Osaka, Japan.

Having lost their opening game 1-4 to Japan, the Black Stars bounced back strongly to defeat South American side Chile 3-1 on penalties.

The four-nation tournament serves as preparatory ground for the 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar, this year and also for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Winners, Tunisia were also awarded $250,000 after they defeated the host nation, Japan by three unanswered goals.

The team would now prepare for their next AFCON qualifier games in September as they hope to book yet another ticket to the tournament billed for Cote d’Ivoire next year.
