Oliver Barker Vormawor

Mr Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, Convener of “Fix the Country” a pressure group, has been arrested for a post he allegedly made on a social media platform that he will stage a coup should the E-Levy Bill be passed by Parliament.

A statement, signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwesi Ofori, Director-General, Public Affairs, and copied the Ghana News Agency, said the post contained a “clear statement of intent with a possible will to execute a coup in his declaration of intent to subvert the constitution of the Republic of Ghana.”

It said he would be arraigned before the court on Monday, February 14, 2022.

The statement called on “the good people” of Ghana to avoid making pronouncements that may lead to a breach of the peace of the country as any such acts contravened the laws of the country.
