Police looking for a man over GH¢40,000.00 fraud

The Accra Regional Police Command is on a manhunt for one Charles over a GH¢40,000.00 fraud under the pretext of securing his victim an oil drilling contract.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Effia Tenge, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command, has told the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

She said, “The Achimota, Mile 7 District Police recorded a case of defrauding by false pretence On December 24, 2020 at about 1415 hours, someone reported that on December 23, 2020 he received a phone call from a man who introduced himself as Charles and a client to the complainant.”

DSP Tenge said the said Charles told the complainant, a woman, that, he wanted to introduce her into the supply of oil drilling substances, adding that, on December 24, 2020, the said Charles called her and asked her to get eight samples of a said chlorine salt spa from an importer at GH¢5,000.00 per one and meet the manager of the Oil drilling company for it to be purchased.

She said as a result, at around 0900 hours same day, after paying the total sum of GH¢40,000.00 for the eight samples of the said substance at Tantra Hills Bus Stop in Accra to an agent of the purported importer of the product, she tried reaching the manager of the oil company but to no avail.

She said the complainant also tried reaching Charles on his phone but it was switched off.

DSP Tenge said several efforts made to get in touch with the accused persons failed as their phones were all switched off, and that the police were investigating the incident.

CHLORINE, ARAB NGO AND SAUDI ARABIA EMBASSY

4 people , a supposed Procurement officer Emmanuel Mensah working with a borehole drilling Arab NGO in Northern Ghana, an Elder Frank Coomson a distributor of Chlorine Salt , a manager of the Arab NGO and a Manager of Courier Services ( fake as Michael Otoo) tried to get me to buy samples of chlorine each costing 7,000 cedis to show the team from Arab company who were coming down to Accra from the North. The team will then appoint me as sole distributor of the product to them and will sign an MOU with me at the Saudi Arabia Embassy on Saturday Nov 16 2024 purchasing about 4.5 million worth of the product every 2 months with huge profits to me as distributor. Fortunately for me I only paid 4,000 cedis and asked to top up once they come to sign the MOU and then paid for the sample. They later came back to explain that they can’t come to Accra again with their flight because they’ve been called back to Damongo project site due to an emergency. They then said they were bringing me all the papers to sign with cash of about 2.1 million. For 30 boxes of chlorine. They then asked me to pay an additional 2,000 for the courier. At this stage I called them off and started demanding for my 4,000. All 4 were never heard of again.

Same with me here. Not quite some three hours ago today (31/01/2025), the same contract was about to be signed by me and some white men from the UK tomorrow. But for my God and conscience and some background checks, I would have just sent the same Charles GHC 6,000.00.

The deal can go over GH 1.3 million. That I should contact the Importer Mr. Samuel Amarh Ashai working in Jifam Enterprise, Tema Community & with contact number 0276213985. Same person, this time with name Samuel Boateng (0204297583), contacted me about the Nexa Chlorine Salt distribution contract. I already knew it was a scam since my business location on my website was not the updated one but he claimed he visited last month at the same office…and even the way he mentioned my full name. At some point i thought it was money laundering related so I decided to check what the salt does and boom, I met this post.

I was suppose to contact the following person to ask for prices of the said item:
    Mensah & Sons Limited
    Eld. Frank Mensah
    0599122372

I’m sure it would have escalated if I had called, and called him (Samuel Mensah). But I knew it was a scam so I just ignored

It’s sad the Ghana Police are not able to track this(ese) individual(s). They are using Ghanaian registered phone numbers – how difficult is it to arrange with the network providers to track such reported numbers????

So sad. When we say “if it were whites, they would have tracked them down in no time”, people will start saying all sorts of stuff, but that is reality.

He even just called while I am typing this comment. Lol

On Tuesday 22nd July, I was frauded an amount totalling ghc7600 to these people with contact below…
A borrowed money and I had to go for a loan with interest to pay back to the owner…

    Engineer William 0555974388
    Alhaji Mohammed 0276875658
    Padmore Asante (Momo receiver)0542702154
    Lebanese impersonated 0276098546

The William posed like an Engineer with a borehole company in the North…

Unfortunately for me, he sounded like an Engineer I have ever worked with who also is a northern so based on this, I did not double check….

We were to supply some Nexan chlorine powder to the borehole company for a three years contract and had to get in touch with an Alhaji who already had the product ….

Long and short, we were to meet at a Fiesta Royal hotel in to sign for the contract and was to bring a sample which the Lebanese impersonated agreed to pay when we meet at the hotel…..

The payment for the powder was Ghc 7,000….
and had to arrange with a courier to deliver at cost ..

The Lebanese will say they are at the bank to pay the money into your account for the delivery of a certain quantity of the chlorine powder to be supplied by you but will request for a code…..which the Alphaji has bcos he is the importor of the product….

You contact the Alhaji and he tells you to pay ghc20,000 to enable him release the code to enable the Lebanese make the payment into your account for the supply of the product…..

We bargained and the Alhaji agreed to take ghc200 to release the code and was never able to give out the code

Eventually, the Ghc 7,200 momo gone
Courier money and other dropping expenses to the hotel all totalling 7,600 gone down the drain

You call and they now make fun of you….
