Driver granted bail for threatening to kill a Police Officer

The Juaben Circuit Court has granted a GH₵ 5,000.00 bail with one surety, to a 31-year-old driver, who threatened to kill a Police officer at Adwumakaase Kese, near Mampongten, in the Kwabre East Municipality.

Kwame Ofori alias “47”, pleaded not guilty to the charge and will come back to the Court on April 12, this year.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Abdul Rahman Zakaria told the Court presided over by Mr Yusif Osei Asibey that the suspect was a resident of Goaso in the Ahafo Region, while the complainant was Lance Corporal Bismarck Quaye, stationed at the Adwumakaase Kese Police Station.

He said somewhere last year, the Goaso-Mehame Police sent a signal that it was investigating a motorbike theft case involving the suspect.

Inspector Zakaria said the Adwumakaase Kese police, through Lance Corporal Quaye, arrested the suspect at a hideout at Atimatim on February 27, this year and escorted him to Mehame.

He said after investigations the suspect was granted a police enquiry bail where he returned to Atimatim.

Inspector Zakaria, said on his return, the suspect saw the police officer at the District Headquarters at Mampongten and threatened him with death for causing his arrest.

He said the suspect again called the Police officer on phone and threatened to kill him.

Lance Corporal Quaye therefore lodged a complaint with the police and the suspect was arrested and arraigned.
