Simon Osei-Mensah

Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, has said peace remained a critical factor needed for the realization of Ghana’s vision.

He noted that people must always work together in spite of their differences, saying, good neighborliness and unity of purpose are prerequisite for developing a prosperous society.

Additionally, they should be tolerant of divergent views, demonstrate patriotism and also be hardworking in their endeavours.

Mr. Osei-Mensah, who was addressing an Independence Day Parade held under the theme: “Celebrating Peace and Unity’, at the Jubilee Park, Kumasi, said: “Our nationhood hinges on peace.”

The parade comprised contingents from the military and police, as well as all the other security agencies, pupils and students, cadet corps and civil society organizations.

The Regional Minister paid tribute to founding fathers of the nation for their resilience and courage, and stressed the need for the younger generation of Ghanaians to be visionary.

He advised that the people stayed off practices and utterances that could inflame passion unnecessarily.

Mr. Osei-Mensah pointed out that 62 years of nationhood presented Ghana with the opportunity to reflect on the gains so far chalked and make amends where there were challenges for sustainable growth.
