Jordan Ayew’s double seals win for Ghana against Ethiopia

The Black Stars of Ghana defeated their Ethiopian counterparts 2 – 0 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played at the Addis Ababa Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Two first half goals from Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew secured all three points for the Black Stars as they have now accumulated six points from three matches.

The Black Stars started the game in blistering fashion and mounted pressure on the Walias defence in the opening minutes.

Ayew gave Ghana the lead on the fourth minutes mark with beautiful strike after some good play by the Stars around the Ethiopia goal area.

The Black Stars dominated the game with some delightful possessive play, after the lead.

The Black Stars were awarded a penalty on the 24th minute mark after Emmanuel Boateng was brought down by Ethiopia goalkeeper.

Ayew stepped up and doubled the lead for the Black Stars as the Ethiopians were left stunned.

The Ethiopians improved their performance after conceding the two goals with some good play, but lacked the cutting edge as they game went into recess with Stars in the lead.

The Ethiopians begun the second on the front foot as they look to reduce their deficit.

The Black Stars couldn’t keep hold on the ball as the Walias continued the dominance but still lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.

Black Stars goalkeeper had to pull off some terrific saves to deny the Walias a consolation as the Black Stars managed  to secure all three maximum as they now occupy second spot in Group F with six points while Kenya are top with seven points.

The other group game between Kenya and Sierra Leone has been postponed with Sierra Leone serving a suspension from football’s World governing body, FIFA.
