Government advised to step up consultations on Double Track Sysmem

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Vice President of the National House of Chiefs has entreated the government to work in tandem with teacher associations and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of double track system.

Daasebre Ewusi who is also the Paramount Chief of Abeadze Traditional Area made the call in a speech he delivered at a durbar to climax the 2018 Annual Ahobaa Kese festival held at Dominase.

“We need to bear in mind that solution in solutions like these may not necessarily be comfortable, but we need to assure the youth that the leadership of our great nation in all its various facets is good and the national interest”.

He said equally important stakeholders were the voiceless in the impasse: parents and students, saying “as two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers, parents of prospective new entrants are asking, “Whose child should be left at home”.

While prospective new entrants are also asking “whose admission must sacrifice and put on hold”?, so indeed , this a very complicated issue but the nation is trusting its leaders for a solution,” he stated.

The paramount Chief said  teenage pregnancy was on the ascendency and appealed to parents to take good care of the their girl children, adding that they needed to be advised, counselled and guided to learn hard and to abstain from early sex.

Daasebre Ewusi VII cautioned his chiefs, Opinion leaders, Heads of families and Parents in the traditional area to desist from settling rape and defilement cases in their homes, and added that if news of such nature get to him, he will ensure that accused persons are dealt with in accordance with the law to serve as deterrent to others.

He commended government on the fight against illegal mining, and added that much as the effort by the government was aimed at saving the environment, measures must be in place for alternative employment for the citizenry.

Policies that would help sustain the environment must also be put in place to ensure that small scale miners do not flout the environmental laws, he added.
