Curfew on Alavanyo and Nkonya maintained

The Minister for the Interior, Mr Ambrose Dery has on the advice of the Volta Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument maintained the Curfew hours imposed on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships.

The Curfew hours imposed is from 1800hrs (6:00 pm) – 0600hrs (6:00 am) and is expected to take effect from Sunday, August 12, 2018.

A statement signed by the sector Minister and copied to the Ghana News Agency said, “Government continues to express its appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area for their efforts in ensuring peace in the area.”

Mr Dery urged the townsfolk to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all conflicts and disputes.

“Meanwhile, Government would like to reiterate that, there is a ban on all persons in the two towns and their environs from carrying arms, ammunitions or any offensive weapons.

Any persons found with any arms or ammunitions will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement added.

The last time the Minister reviewed the curfew for the two towns was on August 5, this year, which imposed the curfew hours from 1800hrs (6:00 pm) – 0600hrs (6:00 am).
