Accra readies for “AGORO”, a thrilling theatre production

“Agoro”, a thrilling international theatre production, is set to be performed at the National Theatre of Ghana, next month – June 25 to June 30.

Choreographed and directed by Pascal Younge, a composer, and Dr. Zelma Badu-Younge, a choreographer from Ohio University, United States (US), “Agoro” is a concept of new African music, dance and dramatic sketches.

The production has an interesting plot that would captivate and hold the audience spellbound and is part of events to mark the “Silver Jubilee” celebration of the National Theatre.

It is centred on African orchestral music, dance and theatrical works and even more interesting is the choreographer’s incorporation of excerpts from previous productions “Diema” and “AZA”.

Alongside the performance, would be series of workshops and symposia focusing on the theme, art, health and wellness to create the opportunity for intellectual exchange of ideas and related concepts.

The expectation is that this is going to bring tremendous benefits to artistes, art teachers, students, health workers, policy makers and other professionals.

For more than a month now, the national theatre has been reverberating with rehearsals of the exhilarating production.

The wonderful international festival is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the National Theatre of Ghana and three of its prestigious companies – the National Dance Company, National Symphony Orchestra and National Drama Company.

This is in collaboration with Ohio University and Azaguno Inc, US.
