Teachers in Asante Akim North warned against absenteeism

Mr Ernest Afari, Asante Akim North District Director of Education has warned teachers in the area against absenteeism and apathy to duty.

He said the directorate would deal drastically with teachers and headmasters who performed below expectation in their schools.

Mr Afari gave the warning at Ananekrom during a visit to monitor ongoing vacation classes being organized by some schools in the District for candidates preparing for the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mr Afari was visibly upset about the absence of teachers at the Shining Star Preparatory School at Ananekrom, when he got to the School around 10am.

He was surprised that no teacher was there at that time to teach after collecting vacation classes’ fees from the pupils.

Mr Afari said the District Directorate of Education was determined to significantly improve education delivery and performance of school children in the area.

He would therefore, not tolerate any activity that would hinder the achievement of that goal.

The Director encouraged the candidates not to be afraid but concentrate on their books and determine that they would pass the examination.

Among the other centres visited were Pentecost Preparatory School, Woraponso D/A, Mmaayenam D/A, Wioso Presbyterian, Akutuase D/A as well as Holy Educational Complex.
