Ashgold trounces Hearts

Ashantigold SC, handed Accra Hearts of Oak a 3-1 defeat in the second game of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), at their adopted home ground – Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday.

It was the first defeat of the phobians in the competition, at their adopted home grounds, which was also characterised by poor performance on the part of the former Africa champions.

Ashgold, supervised by Coach C.K. Akonnor dominated play and deserved to go home with the massive victory.

James Akaminko of AshantiGold opened the scores for the miners in the 8th minute after connecting a corner kick.

Amos Addai, increased the tally in the 59th minute of the second half for the miners but Hearts pulled one back in the 75th minute through Joseph Esso.

Shafiu Mumuni secured the three points for AshGold in the 89th minute after heading the ball past Hearts goalkeeper.

AshantiGold has thus accrued six points after two wins in the premier league whilst Hearts of Oak has picked in the two-week old league.
