25 factories to be built under phase-one of 1D1F in Eastern Region – Director

Twenty-five (25) factories are going to be established under the phase-one of the one-district one-factory (1D1F) policy implementation in the Eastern Region.

Ms. Doris Asetena-Mensah, the Regional Director of the Trade and Industry Ministry, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua, that construction works would start, this year.

These factories would mainly be into agro-processing, recycling, quarry and poultry and source their raw materials locally.

She said so far 25 companies have had their projects approved and were going to receive funding from financial institutions backing the implementation of the policy.

She would not speculate on when the factories would be ready except to say that district implementation committees had been established in all the 26 districts.

The committees’ job was to facilitate the smooth implementation of the approved projects.

She added that the Trade and Industry Ministry would also be closely monitoring the progress of work at every stage of the construction.
