The G-8 tournament, which is being used as a rehearsal for the upcoming Ghana Premier League (GPL), saw kotoko beating Aduana Stars by 2:0 with a first half goal from Eric Donkor and an 89th minute goal from Kwame Boahene to seal a semi-final berth for the porcupine warriors.

Hearts of Oak in a 5 goal thriller beat Ebusua Dwarfs by 3:2 at the Cape Coast stadium to book a slot at the semis with a goal from Christopher Bonney, and a brace from Richard Zuma for Accra Hearts of Oak and one goal each from Stephen Bentil and Joseph Esso for Ebusua Dwarfs.

Both Kotoko and Hearts of Oak needed a win to advance to the next stage of the 8 clubs tournament after they lost their second games to Dreams FC and Medeama SC respectively in Kumasi and Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Kotoko who would be representing Ghana in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup after winning the MTN FA Cup last year topped Group A with 7 points after 3 games as Hearts of Oak placed second in Group B with 6 points from 3 games.
