Akosua Adjepong and another dragged to court over sale of land
Akosua Adjepong, an ace musician and her brother have been put before a Circuit Court in Accra over fraudulent sale of land costing GH¢160,000.00.
When the case was called, the court was furnished with a medical report indicating that Akosua Adjepong was not well and could not attend court.
However, her brother, known as Frank Agyemang Badu, a building contractor, who appeared in court, has been admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢160,000.00 with three sureties, one to be justified.
This was after he had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and fraudulent transaction of land.
Akosua Adjepong is facing the same charges.
The case has been adjourned to October 24, by Mrs Cecilia Dapaa Mireku.
The facts as narrated by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo are that, Jonas Asamoah, the complainant is a trader, residing at New Bortianor. Madam Adjepong and Badu reside at Tuba and Weija respectively.
ASP Boafo said during the month of February this year, Mr Asamoah wanted a parcel of Land by the road side to display his vehicles for sale.
The prosecution said in the process, Mr Asamoah contacted Akosua Adjepong, who informed him that she had one plot of land for rental but Mr Asamoah informed her that he wanted an outright sale.
Later Akosua Adjepong introduced Badu to the complainant as her brother, who had one plot of land opposite the West Hills Mall to sell.
Prosecution said Mr Asamoah after inspecting the land expressed interest but demanded for genuine documents for verification at the Lands Commission.
Akosua Adjepong then assured Mr Asamoah that the land was genuine and her brother was the rightful owner.
The accused persons then took Mr Asamoah to the Lands Commission offices and an alleged official claimed that the land was owned by Badu.
After bargaining, Mr Asamoah agreed to pay GH¢160,000.00 and made cash payment of GH¢105,000.00.
Prosecution said Mr Asamoah released one Toyota RAV 4 Vehicle valued at GH¢ 100,000.00 to Badu so that he adds another plot of land located behind the West Hills Mall to him.
When the accused persons produced the documents on the two plots of land they were in the name of Dora Amosi Okyere and not Badu.
Prosecution said when Mr Asamoah proceeded to work on the land; one Jonathan Kojo Asante came to claim ownership with the original documents on the land.
Mr Asamoah tried several times to locate the accused persons but to no avail.
ASP Boafo said a report was made to the Police and the accused persons were arrested and released on bail to produce the said Dora Amosi Okyere but they failed.
Badu however gave out the Toyota RRAV 4 his uncle to be given to the Police.
