Horse racing in Ghana returns on Saturday September 23

The Accra Turf Club is ready to start horse racing at its new site, Borteyman, on Saturday, September 23.

Mr Samuel Nii Armah Turkson, the Secretary to the Club, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency, urged horse owners to train their horses at the new facility to build their fitness for the racing calendar.

He said the competition would begin with the Homowo races from September 23 and 30 at 1400 hours respectively.

Mr Turkson said four races would be held each day beginning with the Division Three ‘B’ over a distance of six furlongs, with the second, the Novice Division, also covering a distance of six furlongs.

He said the third and fourth races is over a distance of seven furlongs each, involving Division Three ‘A’ and Four ‘A’ horses”. 

He urged the horse owners to register by September 20 to avoid any embarrassment and that a fee of GH¢2.00 would be charged at the gates, with the programme brochure selling at GH¢1.00.
