Ghana Finance Week to be hosted in October

Precise Communications Ltd, a Ghanaian marketing and communications Company, is partnering EIB Network as the official media partner to organise the maiden Ghana Finance Week (GFW) slated for October 16 to 21.  

The Ghana Finance Week would be a festival of live financial industry events designed to showcase and celebrate the best of finance and spurring financial inclusion while providing networking, social learning and business opportunities for all.    

The week aims among other things, to create a platform for financial services providers and regulators to showcase and promote their product and services.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Monday, Mr Stephen Gyasi-Kwaw, Chief Executive Officer of Precise Communications Limited explained that the Finance Week was expected to bridge the financial inclusion gap and to promote excellence and innovation within the financial sector. 

At the conference, Precise Communications and EIB Network signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that would allow them to host the financial week together. 

Mr Gyasi-Kwaw signed on behalf of Precise Communications while Mr Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, CEO of EIB Network initialed for his company. 

Mr Gyasi-Kwaw said the financial week would also help educate and inform the public about the various financial products that could enhance their lives and businesses. 

He said the week would connect thousands of people, who would include students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, employees, non-profit leaders, finance professional, government officials and many others, through a range of signature activities.

He described the financial sector as playing a key role in Ghana’s economic prosperity and the livelihoods of the citizen and that was why the financial week would help in sustaining the sector” 

“We are delighted to welcome EIB Network for this partnership to drive financial inclusion through the Ghana Finance Week,” Mr Gyasi-Kwaw said. 

Mr Adisi, said EIB Networks believed the media could play a pivotal role in fostering financial inclusion that was why it was collaborating with Precise to organise the event.

“We at EIB are very proud to collaborate with Precise Communications to organise Ghana Finance Week 2017. 

“The Ghana Finance Week is a catalyst to foster inclusion, drive excellence and innovation within Ghana’s financial service industry,” he noted. 

Among the activities lined-up for the GFW event is a Financial Services Expo that would present a one stop shop where the public would have access to information on the various products, and services within the financial services industry.

It would also provide a marketplace platform for financial services providers to engage with their consumers on their concerns on the products and services they offer.  

“The expo will be a catalyst to drive excellence and innovation within Ghana’s financial services industry.” 

There would also be a finance summit, involving a high level conference which would enable participants to discuss and evaluate key challenges, trends and opportunities in the finance industry as well as provide useful insights into the “thinking of the captains of the finance Industry”.

The summit would provide a timely platform for exchange of ideas, industry updates and knowledge for finance professionals, business leaders and Policy makers as well as facilitate healthy exchange of views among finance professionals, entrepreneur’s development partners, civil society and regulators.

Another activity, dubbed: “FinTech live,” would be held as part of the financial event, and it would create a platform to showcase new tech innovations in banking, investing, insurance, lending, payments and other financial services technology.“

The day would be weaved with live demos and Hackathon while Companies with fintech solutions would be invited to make a demo presentation to finance sector leaders and investors.

Mr Gyasi-Kwaw said a Career in Finance live event was yet another programme to be featured with the aim to inspire, inform and education people about the various finance career options within the financial sector, providing a platform for successful finance professional to share the career journey with aspiring and practicing finance professional.  

He said a “Financial Sector Games”, a multi sports event which aimed to promote health and wellbeing of finance professionals by bringing them to socialise through a range of multi sports activities and also raise funds to support worthy social intervention cause would be held.

He said proceeds from the games would be donated towards Kwami Sefa Kayi’s Kokrokoo Charities Foundation Project 100 Incubators initiative.

A “Finance Professionals Day of Service” would be another event to be held with the aim to create an opportunity for finance professionals in Ghana to give back to the society through their skills and talents. 

It will also promote corporate citizenship culture with the finance sector.
