Court remands 34 suspects in soldier’s murder

The Accra Central District Magistrate Court on Monday remanded 34 suspects allegedly involved in the lynching of Captain Maxwell Adams Mahama at Obuasi Denkyira in the Central Region Monday, May 29.

Their pleas were not taken and are to reappear in court on 23rd June, 2017.

Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police George Amega prayed the court presided over by Mr Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah to remand the accused in other for the Police to carry out further investigations into the matter.

Captain Mahama who was with the commander of a military detachment stationed at Diasso in the Upper Denkyira district to check the activities of galamsey operators left the detachment base for a twenty kilometer walk/jogging.

When he got to the outskirts of Denkyira Obuasi, he stopped for directions from some women who were selling food items by the roadside and even bought some snails but was later attacked and lynched by the villagers claiming he was a robber.
