Aflao Traditional Area Development Organisation launched
Togbe Amenyi Fiti V, Daxo of the Aflao Traditional Area, has launched the Aflao Traditional Area Development Organisation (ATADO) at Aflao in the Ketu South District of the Volta Region.
The organisation is to promote and enhance the development of the Aflao Traditional Area.
Brigadier-General Edward Lord Attivor, the Chairman of ATADO speaking at the inauguration, said it was also to undertake activities that would positively impact on the general wellbeing and welfare of the chiefs and people the Traditional Area.
It is to seek and contribute meaningfully towards the maintenance of peace and unity in Aflao Traditional Area and to play a positive role in matters relating to the promotion of defence of its sovereignty.
“It is to promote commercial, industrial and physical development of Aflao Traditional area,” he added.
He said in the interim the organisation would initiate, organise, implement and participate in social, cultural, economic and political programmes of the chiefs and people of Aflao traditional area.
On education, he said ATADO would adopt systematic approaches and mechanisms to raise the standard of education, a process that would lead to production of required manpower to support our transformation agenda.
“We are happy to inform this gathering that, very soon ATADO will award a number of scholarships to needy but brilliant students of the area at the Senior High School,” he said.
The Chairman said it would engage in capacity development and training for effective economic and political participation and engage in development communication as a tool for transformation of the Aflao traditional Area.
He noted that as a development organisation, ATADO aims at enabling the creation of a sustainable economic environment that would provide reliable sources of livelihoods for the natives.
Brig-Gen Ativor said “ATADO intends to enhance the image of Aflao through a systematic transformation of the locality into a modern community, whose populace would confidently participate effectively in the governance and economy of Ghana.”
He called for support from benevolent individuals and organisations across the globe in their developmental operations and appealed to all citizens of the area to enroll as members of ATADO and get committed to its goals.
