PAARS Valuation Module to boost government revenues
The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority with technical support from Westblue consulting Ltd, implementers of the Ghana single window project, on Monday began series of enhancement training sessions on the Pre-Arrival Assessment Reporting System (PAARS).
The training sessions are designed to introduce users on the new functionalities introduced on the PAARS to ensure seamless processing of entries.
The training, opened to all declarants, will acquaint users on understanding the New Excel Item Template, understanding the New Trade Unit of Measure amongst many other interesting developments.
PAARS is a modernised system that has been developed by the Customs Division of GRA as part of the implementation of the National Single Window system to enhance revenue mobilisation, improve border security and customs clearance, overcome duplication across regulatory agencies and promote trade facilitation.
However, a recent review of the system noticed a flaw in the way the clearance system was processing the valuation data being transmitted.
With the supervision of Customs and Ministry of Finance, this has been resolved and we should see improved collections.
Mr Hector Obideaba, a Revenue Assistant GRA said the workshop would help exporters and importers go about filing their declarations easily.
It will also bring to the fore the correction of the basic errors being made by the exporters and importers when they are filling their entries.
“We are here for enhancement training on the PAARS. Basically, there are some errors that the clearances do. So, we are here to help them correct those entry errors so that their Customs Clearance and Verification Reports (CCVRs) can arrive on time.”
He said the PAARS had chalked out a lot of success and had helped to boost revenue and we are also trying to make the CCR very authentic and faster.

The training workshop was organised by the Division of Ghana Revenue Authority with support from West Blue Consulting and is taken place across the country.
