Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Advisory Board inaugurated

Mr John-Peter Amewu, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Tuesday inaugurated and swore in an eight-member Ministerial Advisory Board for the sector.

He said the inauguration of the Board was imperative as it complied with section 39 (1) of the Civil Service Law 1993, (PNDCL 327), which mandates every sector ministry to establish a ministerial Advisory Board.

The Board comprised the Minister as the Chairman, the Deputy Secretary for the Ministry, the Chief Director and a representative each from three public and private sector organisations.

Outlining their mandate to them, Mr Amewu told the board members to promote constant interaction between the Ministry and the users of its services; and to also advice the sector minister on adjustment in policy direction, planning objectives and operational strategies.

He expressed confidence in the Board members and assured them of the Ministry’s commitment to supporting them to deliver their mandate efficiently and diligently to achieve the government’s agenda.

“The challenges of the Ministry are enormous but I am confident that with the rich experiences of members, especially with representatives of the private sector, we can make significant improvement of the current situation in the sector.

“We are also hopeful that the board will work even beyond its mandate as spelt out in the law to ensure that the vision and mission of the Ministry is fulfilled,” he added.

The eight member Ministerial Advisory Board includes, Hon John-Peter Amewu, Sector Minister and Chairman; Hon Benito Owusu Bio, Deputy Sector Minister; Hon Barbara Oteng Gyasi, Deputy Sector Minister; Professor Bruce Banoeng-Yakubo, Chief Director; Prof Patrick Agbesinyale, Dean, Institute of Development Studies-UCC;
