Andre Ayew down with malaria

Ghana’s live wire Andre Ayew, is down with malaria, but has not been ruled out of the second Group D, game against Mali on Saturday.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports revealed that, the player who fetched Ghana’s only goal against Uganda through penalty, has been unwell since Tuesday.

Ayew, did not complete training on Thursday, due to his condition and does not look good for the game against the Malians on Saturday.

However, head coach Avram Grant says, the player is not completely out of the game and that they are observing him on Friday before taking a decision on him.

“He was not feeling good on Wednesday and this morning as well. But we have our last training on Friday evening to take a final decision on him.”

The coach believes there are equally good players to take over from the deputy captain in the competition.

Afful Harrison, was also not active on Wednesday evening and was treated for malaria.

Team Doctor, Dr. Ahmed Baba said in an interview that, the player was not very active and they suspected malaria.

He said he has since been treated and will be fit for the game on Saturday.
