YEA says recruits 10,629 youths in Northern Region

EmploymentThe Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has recruited a total of 10,629 youths in eight models in the Northern Region.

In the Community Health Workers model 2,954 were recruited, the E-Health Technicians had 121, Community Policing Assistants (CPA) 550, Youth in Fire Service (YIFS) 287 and Youth in Prison Services (YIPS) had 248 recruits.

The other models and their populations are: the Coastal Sanitation -213, Environmental Protection Officers (EPO) -341, Community Education Teaching Assistants (CETA)- 4,147 and Youth in Arabic Instructions (YIAE)- 1,768 recruits.

Mr Rashid Tanko, Northern Regional Director of the YEA, at a press conference in Tamale said government was determined to adequately provide skills and training for the teeming youth.

He said the Agency would continue to harness the potential of the youth by giving them continuous training for the two-year-sting they would be with the Agency to prepare them for their future careers.

Mr Tanko assured the beneficiaries of prompt payment of their monthly allowances adding that this would be done through the e-switch payment system.

He said the Agency is an outstanding public institution facilitating and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the youth of this country.

He said the YEA has a strong funding source to sustain the programme for many years and urged the beneficiaries to do their best.

The Youth Employment Agency was established by Act 887 of 2015 to oversee the development, coordination, supervision and facilitation of employment for the youth of the country.
