The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts in collaboration with its implementing agencies, has launched the third edition of the “Homogenous Festival 2016”, in Accra slated for October 7 and October 8.

The festival was instituted in 2014 by the Ministry as part of measures to promote domestic tourism and afford the chiefs and people of Ga-Adangbe, one platform to showcase their rich cultural diversity.

This year’s event on the theme: “My Festival Rock,” is aimed at fostering unity among Ga-Adangbes in addition to creating awareness among the indigenes, while promoting their food, dance and music.

Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Tourism, speaking at the launch said the festival is also part of the Ministry’s “Explore Ghana,” project, which has the sole objective of promoting domestic tourism.

She said it is to encourage corporate organisations to contribute to the development of the Greater Accra through corporate social responsibility.

She said the festival, which has come to stay must be sustained to attract more Ghanaians and international tourists to participate in the celebration annually.

Among other programmes lined up to celebrate this year’s Homofest include a float through the street of Accra, exhibition on Ga Adangbe culture and traditions and a Miss Homofest pageant, as well as food competition.
