Kotoko drops two vital points at home

KotokoAsante Kotoko S/C dropped two vital points for the second consecutive time at home as they drew 0-0 with visiting Berekum Chelsea in a Ghana Premier League Match Day 27 clash at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday.

The results, ostensibly, seemed to have dented the hopes of the Porcupine Warriors in their bid to capture this year’s league, as Wa All Stars, the league leaders extended their lead on 48 points with a win in another fixture.

Kotoko who are on 42 points, know the herculean task ahead, and the gloomy picture on the faces of the technical team and playing body after the match summed up their frustration.

With barely three matches to complete the 2015/2016 League, soccer analysts had predicted a photo finish, and Aduana who occupy the second place on 45 points, as well as Hearts, also on 42 points at the fourth position, remain the keen contenders.

On the game itself, Chelsea demonstrated a well-rehearsed strategy, marshalling more men in midfield, and anchored in attack by Asiwome Fumador, the visitors kept their composure throughout the match to share points with the homers.

Kotoko, determined to carry the day, switched play to the right flank and with speedster Emmanuel Gyamfi in the tick of affairs, the visitors were forced to concede five corner kicks ten minutes into the second half which were all wasted.

The homers brought on Kwame Boateng for Akwasi Antwi in the 72nd minute, and with their attack boosted, Kotoko would mount an incessant onslaught on the visitors, but the latter stood equal to the task to end the encounter barren.

KOTOKO S/C players aren’t serious and they keep on imposing pressure on the management. They should sack them all.
