Take legal action against unions to bring some sanity – NRSC

nrscThe Eastern Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Mr. Kwasi Yirenkyi, has encouraged road crash victims to take legal action against transport unions, who failed to transport them safely to their destination.

He said the situation where the unions’ overriding interest seemed to be in the money they were making but no so much about the safety of the people could not continue.

It was time injured victims and relatives of those killed through these crashes tested the law, he stated.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua, Mr. Yirenkyi, said the safety of travelers must be paramount.

“You pay for a transport service to be carried to your destination alive and not as a dead person”, he added.

He reminded the transport operators that they needed to do more to stop the indiscipline and recklessness on the roads – to bring sanity.

They should heed safety education and respect road traffic regulations to make the roads safe for everybody.
