Frimpong powers Kotoko to victory over Dreams F/C

KotokoAn Amos Frimpong well-taken spot-kick in the 87th minute was all that Asante Kotoko needed to ensure victory over visiting Dreams F/C in their Ghana Premier League Match Day 23 fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday.

The visitors had remained resolute and composed throughout the game until the Porcupine Warriors launched a swift counter-attack that saw slippery striker, Emmanuel Gyamfi being brought down in the box for a penalty.

With a solid three-man defense anchored by Abeiku Ainooson, who was playing against his former team, Dreams combined experience and tactical discipline to neutralize Kotoko’s attack in the first half.

The homers, in the second half, brought on Obed Owusu for Kwame Boateng, while Seidu Bancey replaced Stephen Nyarko.

This brought an instant effect on the game with the Porcupine Warriors intensifying their attacks to break the deadlock and it did come as Gyamfi was fouled in the vital area for the penalty, which Kotoko’s skipper converted.

The result had catapulted Kotoko to the fourth position on the log on 36 points, with Dreams occupying the fifth position on 35 points.
