The Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, has called on traditional rulers to supplement efforts of the police in ensuring peaceful general election in December.

He tasked them to help preach peace and maintain order in their communities before, during and after the polls.

Mr Kudalor said this when he paid a courtesy call on Togbe Anikpi III, Chief of Ho-Heve, as part of a day’s working visit to the Volta Region.

He said chiefs played important roles in democracy and elections and asked them to use their influence to promote peace ahead of the polls.

Mr Kudalor asked the chiefs to engage the youth on the need to act peacefully during the period.

Togbe Anikpi pledged the readiness of the traditional rulers to work towards peaceful elections.

He urged the police and other state actors to be neutral and professional in their operations to win the trust of all.
