National Service personnel begin registration

National ServiceA total of 70,105 National Service personnel deployed across the nation for the 2016/2017 service year, have begun a registration exercise in Accra to cue in their credentials to start their duties on September 1, 2016.

The registration exercise which began on Monday saw a lot of service personnel trouping into the regional and district offices of the National Service Secretariat to submit their National Service Scheme (NSS) posting forms and letter, passport size pictures and e-zwich numbers.

At the time the Ghana News Agency got to the Greater Accra Regional Administration where the registration was taking place, some service personnel had gone through the process successfully while others had issues with some of their particulars.

Officers registering the personnel noted that there had not been any challenges so far since the personnel had been co-operative to ensure the smooth running of the process.

A press release signed by the Executive Director of the NSS, Dr Kpesse White, indicated that the secretariat had released the postings of personnel from 145 tertiary institutions across the nation.

It said the personnel deployed would serve in modules such as Educational Support, Agribusiness, Urban Traffic Management, Urban Sanitation Management, and Community Health.

In addition personnel would serve in Rural Development, Private Sector Support and General Administration in the various metropolitan and district assemblies and other user agencies in the country.

The release said the NSS Management would not encourage change of postings and urged all prospective personnel to accept their placements as part of their contributions towards building a prosperous nation.

It calls on them to log onto www.nss.gov.gh to check their placements and proceed to their region of posting and go through registration processes.
