Dwarfs humble Kotoko in mid-week encounter
Ebusua Dwarfs thrashed Kumasi Asante Kotoko 4-1 at Cape Coast Stadium, in the week 20 fixtures of the ongoing Ghana Premier League 2015/2016 season.
Dwarfs, who have had a torrid season so far, inflicted the painful and heavy defeat on the former league champions, who are also having a tough time in the second round of the league.
Bright Lukman’s double and a goal each from Christopher Bonney and Nicholas Gyan were all that the Cape Coast lads needed to silence the Kumasi based club, with a consolation goal from the spot kick by Amos Frimpong.
Dwarfs, who were hammered by Kotoko at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi in the first leg 3:0, made sure they capitalised on the numerical advantage to avenge that defeat as Eric Donkor of Kotoko, was shown the red card in the first half.
The win has seen Dwarfs climb up to the 11th position with 23 points from 20 games, as Kotoko slipped to the 4th position with 32 points from 20 games, making way for Medeama SC to take up the 3rd place after 19 games due to their CAF Confederation engagement.
Kotoko who have had a patchy second round will have to resuscitate the “wo kum apem a, apem beba” slogan come Sunday 24th July, 2016, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi as they play host to a rejuvenated Hearts of Oak side who have usurped Wa All Stars from the top position with 37 points from 20 games
In the other results for the week 20 fixtures, Bechem United were held to a one all draw game by defending champions Ashanti Gold at the Bechem Park, as Inter Allies also piped West African Football Academy (WAFA), by a lone goal at the Tema stadium.
At the Wa Park, Wa All Stars beat Techiman City by 2:0 to close the gap by two points behind Accra Hearts of Oak.
Ghana’s sole representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Medeama SC beat Liberty Professionals by a goal to nil at the Tarkwa Park, as they eased passed Kotoko to make it to the 3rd position on the league table.
Dreams FC brushed aside Aduana Stars by 2:0 at the Dawu Park to keep their dreams of finishing in the top four a reality. Elsewhere, at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium, new Edubiase were also held to a goalless draw game by Hasaacas, as the two relegation threatened teams battled each other.
