Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has taken delivery of two out three Kantanka vehicles that he ordered for his office to use.
The third vehicle is expected to be delivered to his office in two weeks’ time by the Kantanka Automobile Limited.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur took delivery when he visited the Kantanka Automobile Building Plant at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region.
He also took the opportunity of his visit to tour the various production units at the facility.
Some of the places he went include the welding line, assembling line, the spraying line and the rain testing and speed testing line.
Speaking to journalists after the tour, Vice President Amissah-Arthur stated that government’s objective for ordering the vehicles is consistent with its policy to support local industries to grow.
He urged Ghanaians to buy made in Ghana goods to support indigenous industries to expand.
He said the Kantanka vehicles ordered are durable and could compete favourably with the foreign ones because they have been conditioned for the country’s weather as well as cheaper in terms of prices.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur said the vehicle parts to maintain the cars are readily available as well as local expertise to fix them.
He said as Chairman of the Police Council, he could attest that the Kantanka vehicle donated to the Police over a year ago which has been used intensively have not had any problem up till now.
Mr Kwadwo Sarfo Jr, Chief Executive of Kantanka Automobile Limited on his part thanked Vice President Amissah-Arthur for the confidence he has shown in the company and for buying three vehicles for his office.
He said Kantanka vehicles being produced are of international standard and could compete with any of the imported ones.
He also assured Vice President Amissah-Arthur the company is ready to provide regular maintenance for the vehicles bought.
