Newmont Mining appoints Alwyn Pretorius as Senior Vice President for Africa

Newmont Mining Corporation has appointed Alwyn Pretorius as Senior Vice President to head its Africa Operations. His appointment was made in March 2016.

In a press release issued and copied to ghanabusinessnews.com, Newmont said Mr. Pretorius brings more than 20 years of gold sector experience to the role with extensive expertise in underground deep-level gold mining.

Before joining Newmont, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Harmony Gold Company Limited, one of South Africa’s leading gold producers, it said.

According to the release, he also worked at ARMgold, where he managed portfolios of up to 10 mines with annual production of 1.3 million ounces of gold.
