Ministry renews curfew hours in four areas

PoliceThe Ministry of the Interior has renewed the curfew hours in four areas of the country.

They are Kpatinga and its environs in the Northern Region from 12:00 midnight to 0400 hours, Bimbilla Township in Northern Region from 1800 hours to 0600 hours, Alavanyo and Nkonya townships in the Volta Region from 2300 hours 0500 hours all effective Friday, June 17.

The curfew hours for Bunkprugu Township start from 2000 hours to 0600 hours, effective Tuesday, June 21.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Friday and signed by the Minister, Mr Prosper D.K. Bani, said the decision was upon the advice of the various regional security councils.

Mr Bani urged the chiefs, opinion leaders and people of Kpatinga to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to resolve their grievances for peace to prevail.

He said there was a total ban on all persons in the aforementioned areas from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon and that any person found with such weapons would be arrested and prosecuted.

Mr Bani expressed appreciation to the chiefs, elders and the youth of Alavanyo and Nkonya for their efforts in ensuring peace in the area and urged them to establish mechanisms for the solution of all conflicts and disputes.

He advised the people of Bimbilla and Bunkprugu to co-exist peacefully and avoid confrontations.
