Taekwondo practitioners demonstrate against President

TaeKwando protestsA group of Taekwondo practitioners have staged demonstration to register their displeasure against President of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) Mr. Frederick Otu Lartey.

The demonstration which started on Wednesday morning at circle and ended at the Arts Centre in Accra saw about 20 athletes draped with red bands was aimed at compelling the president to resign.

In an interview with the angry demonstrators, they (The Concern Black Belt (Freedom Fighters) According to them, the president has breached the Article 11 section C Subsection (ii) of the Constitution for misconduct.

The group said the President tenure of office has ended and therefore it is time for change.

A member of the team Mr. Prince Attipoe, blamed the president for not respecting the Regional Sports Director and causing division among members leading to fear and panic in the federation.

He also accused the president of misconduct and failure to account for the Olympics Solidarity Funds, which he received for two players.

Attipoe said “your misconduct warrants your dismissal and we wish to assure you that we would do all in our power to resist you as President of the federation and even prepared to head to the Law Court”.

He again cautioned the President that “Taekwondo is a disciplined sport and we will not tolerate your indiscipline and outrageous behaviour any longer”

He said the president has disobeyed the sports regulations of NSA LI 1988 / 2011 and has disrespected Master Joseph Brake, one of the senior Black Federations belt and an international Referee telling him to go home in front of Junior Belt when he came for a Local Referee Course.

Mr. Attipoe emphasized that they would continue to demonstrate in all Regions until election are held to elect new president and executives.
