Abetifi by-election slated for July 19

Voters3The Electoral Commission has slated the Abetifi Constituency by-election for Tuesday, July 19.

A statement signed by Mr Amadu Sulley, EC Deputy Chair, Operations, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, said following the death of the Member of Parliament for the Abetifi, Peter Wiafe Pepera and in accordance with Article 112(5) of the Constitution, as amended, the EC would be organising the by-election.

It said nominations for the election would be taken on Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday June 22, the District Office of the Commission at Abetifi in the Eastern Region, from 0900 hours to 1200 hours and from 1400 hours to 1700 hours on both days.

It said nomination forms may be obtained from the District Office at Abetifi or the Regional Office of the Commission in Koforidua.

The statement said candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) with red background, showing the fulI face and both ears.

It said the filing fee for the election is GH¢1,000.

It said all interested candidates and political parties were to take note and be guided accordingly.
