Residents must move from flood-prone areas – AMA

Accra-flood-Jamestown-09-06-16Mr Sam Ayeh-Datey, the Co-ordinating Director of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, has advised people living in flood prone areas to move to higher grounds to avoid any mishap.

He called on members of the public who dumped refuse into drains to stop the practice as it contributed to the flooding situation in the city.

Mr Ayeh-Datey gave the directive in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Friday.

He said the Ghana Meteorological Agency had warned that the rains would continue over the weekend and was expected to be pretty heavy; hence the need to abide by these measures to avert loss of lives.

He cautioned the public to, as much as possible, avoid places like filling stations and electricity sub-stations and must not go near electric poles, huge old trees and billboards to prevent danger.
