Counsel defending two suspects in the murder case of J. B. Danquah Adu’s, former MP for Abukwa North has challenged the Police to disclose their source of information indicating that Vincent Bosso assisted Daniel Asiedu in the murder of the deceased.

“There was no evidence that Bosso aka Junior Agogo assisted Asiedu aka “Sexy Dondon”.

Mr Augustine Obuor, Counsel for the accused persons told an Accra Magistrate Court on Thursday the prosecution must disclose their source of information.

Mr Obuor said he has had conference with Bosso and he had stated that he did not know Asiedu from Adam.

According to defence counsel, the Police had also not told the court that they had taken a statement from Asiedu connecting Bosso to the crime.

Counsel posits that prosecution had not also told the court that Bosso had made a confession statement to the Police.

He was of the view that prosecution had to explain to court the meaning of assistance as used in the charge sheet.

Counsel demanded also that the prosecution should produce the letter stating the Attorney General’s response requesting the prosecution to clarify certain issues in respect of Asiedu.

Asiedu is being held for murder of the late MP for Abuakwa North on February 9, this year at his Shaishie residence at about 01:00 hours.

In the case of Bosso, he has been charged with abetment of crime to wit murder.

The accused persons plea had not been taken as prosecution withdrew their early charges and substituted new ones before the court’s last sitting.

Responding to defence lawyer’s assertions, Superintendent of Police Francis Baah who is prosecuting disclosed that a third accomplice known as Avenger had been arrested by the Police and so there was there need for the Police to produce a solid docket.

According to Supt. Baah the Police would not have arrested Bosso if Asiedu had not mentioned his name.

Prosecution said the Magistrate court was not the forum to tender the statements of the accused persons and that Booso has not denied his involvement in the crime.

The court presided over by Mr Stephen Owusu after going through the letter from the Attorney General’s Department remanded the two suspects till June 16.

The facts as presented by Mr. Baah were that the deceased J. B. Danquah-Adu was the MP for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region who lived with his family in a one-storey building apartment at Shiashie, East Legon.

The accused persons Asiedu aka Sexy Dondon and Vincent Bosso aka Junior Agogo lived at Agbgboloshie.

On February 8, this year, at about 11:40 pm, the deceased came home in his private vehicle driven by his driver Samuel Berko Sarkodie.

Prosecution said the driver having brought his master home handed over the ignition keys to him and left for his residence at Kasoa.

The deceased then retired to bedroom located upstairs. At about 1:00am, Asiedu and Bosso armed went to the house of the deceased, prosecution said.

According to prosecution, Asiedu after entering the house picked up a ladder and climbed to the porch of the top floor and entered the bedroom of the deceased through the window whiles the deceased was sleeping.

“Asiedu began to search the room and but the deceased woke up and held Asiedu who resisted and stabbed the deceased on the right chest above the breast. The deceased held the knife and Asiedu pulled the knife through the deceased hands creating a deep cut in his palm, “prosecution said.

Prosecution said the deceased who was bleeding profusely fell by his bed helpless and Asiedu stabbed him several times on the right chest and neck.

Realizing that the deceased was almost dead left him and took away his three iphones.

The prosecutor said the struggle that ensued between the deceased drew the attention of the security man who alerted other security men within the vicinity

Mr. Baah said Bosso realisng danger took to his heels leaving Asiedu behind. Asiedu however managed to descend from deceased room to the back house by climbing one of the poly tanks in the house and jumped over the electric fence into an adjoining house and escaped.

He said the Security man then called the Police emergency line and informed them. When the Police arrived the victim was already dead and his body was conveyed the Police Hospital Mortuary.

On February 15, this year autopsy was performed on the deceased body by a Pathologist from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital who gave the cause of death as “” Exsanguination and Multiple stab injuries on Anterior and Chest.”

Prosecution said Police investigations led to the arrest of accused persons who stated that their aim of going to the deceased house was to steal.

The prosecutor said Asiedu explained that deceased struggled with him when he entered the room and that compelled him to use the knife on him.
