MTN commits to supporting golf in Ghana

The Chief Executive Officer of telecommunication giant MTN Ghana, Mr. Ebenezer Asante Twum, has pledged his outfit’s commitment to the development of golf in the country.

He described the sport as exciting and the Asantehene Gold Cup as a huge platform that ensures more networking and interaction.

In his address at the 59th MTN Gold Cup tournament in Kumasi recently, he said: “From our point of view, golf is a very exciting game and our aim is to make it a popular sport in Ghana.”

“In this regard, MTN continues to sponsor the quarterly CEO’s Invitational tournaments, which have all received great participation. As a corporate entity that values building and maintaining a strong relationship with its stakeholders, MTN is excited to be part of the tournament for the 7th time.”

Royal Golf Club’s Samer Hage, picked the ultimate prize after recording an impressive score of 142 over the two days, in the Scratch event and Constance Awuni, also from the Royal Golf Club, dominated the ladies scratch section after recording 162 points.

For their efforts, each took home a 48 inch Samsung Curved television, giant gold trophies, among other packages.

Club President of Royal Golf Club, Frankie Osei-Assibey expressed gratitude to MTN and other sponsors for making the well patronized competition eventful.

Captain of the Royal Golf Club, Francis Donkor-Baah, also commended Lady Julia, wife of Otumfuo for her contribution in unearthing young golfers in Kumasi.
