Ministry of Youth and Sports sign MoU with Hungarian government

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hungarian Government.

Ghana and Hungary have been in exchange programmes in the science and engineering field for years but the exchange programme took a dip due since Hungary attained independence.

Mr. Edward Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Minister of Youth and Sports, said the renewed friendship between

“This MoU seeks to revamp and to revitalize the socio-cultural relationship between both countries in the past, Hungary has been one of the main pillars as far as science and technology development of our people are concerned. They also have wonderful sports infrastructure and have trained a lot of our sports men and women. A lot of our football coaches were trained in Hungary especially handball and these are the things we want to explore again,” he noted.

Mr Vanderpuye, who was very much excited about the mention of youth development in the MoU and noted that “the most important to the ministry is the intention to revive the youth training centres, it will help us bridge the gap between unemployment and with the reactivation of this school, it will equip people who fall out of the formal educational system to have access to training and to be equipped for their own development and the development of their socio-economic life’s.”

The Minister of Human Resource for Hungary, Mr Zoltan Balog, who signed on behalf of the Hungarian government expressed his delight about renewing an existing relationship between both countries saying “this relationship has a very good history dating back to the 60s and 70s but this connection turned down after we won our independence and now we want to renew this, we appreciate the achievement of Ghana in sports and Hungary being a sports Nation, we have interest  in the disadvantaged and the vulnerable young ones to  especially benefit a lot from this, he noted.
