Shortage of materials at Fijai registration centre

VoterregisterSome prospective voters who went to the STCC registration centre at Fijai in the Essikadu-Ketan constituency on Thursday, to register in the ongoing voter registration could not register due to shortage of registration materials.

Mr Kwasi Kwarteng, a potential voter at the centre, told the Ghana News Agency that he went to the centre around 0800 hours to register but was told the guarantee forms and lamination materials had finished.

He said more than 80 prospective voters could not also register and left the centre disappointed.

Mr David Oppong-Kyekyeku, the Essikadu-Ketan Electoral Officer, confirmed the incident but indicated that the Commission had since supplied the needed registration materials to the centre.

He urged the media to collaborate with the Electoral Commission (EC) by alerting them on any irregularity witnessed at registration centres for immediate resolution, in order to ensure a successful exercise.

The EC started the limited voter registration from April 28 and is expected to end on May 8, across the country, to register eligible Ghanaians who had attained 18 years, as well as those who could not register in the previous registration exercises.
