Kotoko ready for Hearts – Osei

KotokoThe acting Head Coach of Asante Kotoko, Michael Osei, is upbeat about his team’s chances in the much awaited clash with arch rivals Hearts of Oak.

The two glamorous teams meet at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, May 02.

Osei insists Kotoko is in good shape and ready for the match, which promises to be full of excitement, tension and action.

The Porcupine Warriors are going into the match on the heels of a 0-1 defeat to New Edubiase but the technical head said that had not in any way affected the morale in camp.

“Nobody should judge us by our match against Edubiase or our recent performances because Kotoko/Hearts matches are always difficult to predict”, he told the GNA Sports in Kumasi.

Kotoko are on 11 points and ninth on the premier league log, seven clear points behind Hearts, who are placed second on the log.

With their string of victories and recent 2-1 victory over Obuasi-based Ashgold, some soccer analysts are predicting a win for the Phobians.

Coach Osei, while acknowledging that the match was going to be difficult, said they were determined to prove a point and that Kotoko would not be intimidated by Hearts’ “new found form”.

When the two sides met at the same venue last season, Kotoko beat Hearts 2-1, and the latter would be seeking to avenge that bitter defeat.

Meanwhile, Mr. Vincent Sowah-Odotei, Chairman of Hearts’ Strategic Committee, had predicted victory for the Phobians.

He told newsmen in Kumasi that, Kotoko would be no match and that a win over the ‘Reds’ would further boost the confidence of the Phobians.”
