President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday assured residents of Ho of a dual carriageway from Sokode to the Ho Township.

The road is expected to ease traffic to the regional capital and give easy access to the Ho Central Market, the biggest in the eastern part of the country.

President Mahama gave the assurance during an interaction with traders in the Ho Central Market as part of his three-day “Accounting to the People Tour” of the Volta Region.

There had been agitations among residents in the recent past about Ho being the only regional capital without a dual carriage.

President Mahama said the Ho Township roads, including those leading to the market, were being fixed with a 25 kilometre asphalt to attract traders from neighbouring countries to the market.

President Mahama said the rehabilitation of the Ho Market, comprising 231 stores, six warehouses, 38 shops, a crèche, pre-school, a police station, clinic, fire post and offices would be completed soon to facelift the market.

Madam Theresa Mansah Dagbe, the Ho Market Queen, commended President Mahama and the Government for the projects but complained about the quality of work on the market rehabilitation project.

President Mahama earlier granted an interview on Ho based Volta Star Radio and highlighted development projects and policies being implemented to enhance the living conditions in the country.

He also inaugurated the Fume-Dzolokpuita Road and would inaugurate a new Engineering Laboratory at the Ho Polytechnic.
