GIPC adjudged best Investment Agency in West, Central Africa

InvestmentThe Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has been adjudged the Best Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) in West and Central Africa in 2015.

It was in recognition of its efforts towards investment promotion at the Annual Investment Meeting(AIM) 2016 Awards in Dubai.

A press release issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency explained that the award for the West and Central Region of the continent was for the showcasing of its support and facilitation for the Wangkang Ghana Ceramic Limited project registered by the Centre in 2015, valued at $ 93.6million.

Mrs Mawuena Trebarh, Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, on receiving the award said the achievement represented a milestone for Ghana’s vision of attracting quality FDI projects and recognition of the team effort of stakeholders involved in attracting and maintaining sustainable investments in Ghana.

Other winners in the same category for Africa were East Africa: Kenya, South Africa: Mauritius, East and North Africa: Morocco.

The AIM Investment Awards is organised under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai to recognize Investment Promotion Agencies (IPA) for their outstanding work in successfully attracting sizable and beneficial foreign direct investment projects that contribute to the national economic growth and development of their countries.

The IPA’s are selected from Latin America, Middle East & North Africa, West and Central Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Central Asia, South East Asia & Oceania, Eastern Europe Turkey & CIS, Europe.

The event was attended by Officials of the GIPC, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Free Zones Board and other trade promotion agencies
