Mr. Kwaku Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, nominated by the President to the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu-Juaben, has for the second time failed to receive the approval of the assembly.
Thirty-eight (38) members of the assembly members voted yes while 30 others said they objected to his nomination.
Mr. Yamoah Ponko needed 46 votes to scale the mandatory two-thirds majority threshold.
An attempt to take the vote last week ended in confusion as the appointment of 12 of the government appointees were withdrawn and replaced by new faces at the eleventh hour.
The Electoral Commission (EC) supervised today’s election held amid tight security.
