Accra to host 7th oil, gas and power summit

Accra will from April 20 to 21, host the 7th “Ghana Summit – Oil, Gas and Power” – an annual event committed to driving Ghana’s oil, gas and power sectors forward.

The summit is continually endorsed and attended by the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Power, Petroleum Commission, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), the Ghana Gas Company, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Volta River Authority (VRA).

“This is the official meeting of the Government and the decision makers of the oil, gas and power sector of Ghana where energy policy is actually made. The event has a strong local as well as international attendance enabling fantastic networking and new partnerships,” the CWC Group, organizers of the summit said in a statement.

Speakers expected at the 7th summit include President John Mahama, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister of Petroleum; John Abdulai Jinapor, Deputy Minister of Power; Alex Mould, CEO of GNPC; Theo Ahwireng, CEO of Petroleum Commission; Ing Kirk Koffi, CEO of VRA and Ing William Amuna, CEO of GRIDCo.

CWC said the 2016 summit will address questions including:

“How do we fuel Ghana’s power shortage?”

“Is LNG the solution – who will supply it?”

“How do we maximise the energy mix in the country – what is the Government’s strategy for the year ahead?”

“What steps do we need to take to facilitate international partnerships?”

“What are the opportunities for international and indigenous companies?”

“Where are the opportunities for SMEs and how do we make sure Ghanaian SMEs are competitive on an international scale?”
