Abuja becomes 400th city to launch Uber

uber-taxi-Nigeria’s capital Abuja has become the 400th city to launch the online taxi-hitching app Uber.

Uber allows users to request for and be contacted by its taxis without having to search for one outdoors.

Users can see the details – first name, photo, and license plate number – of incoming drivers and contact them for details concerning pick-up.

A statement from Uber said the company was “excited” to launch its platform to help improve urban mobility and traffic congestion in Abuja, “a place where entrepreneurs are born.”

The General Manager of Uber Lagos, Ebi Atawodi was quoted as saying: “Uber is part of a broader evolution in transportation, it is a new and exciting platform that is changing the way we travel and shaping the future of cities across the world. Abuja is a progressive, forward-thinking city that has a need for safe, reliable and efficient transportation and we are so excited to be launching here.”
